About the Kuring-gai District Medical Association (KDMA)
The Kuring-gai District Medical Association (KDMA) is the largest local medical group affiliated with the Australian Medical Association—and likely the oldest, dating back to the 1930s.
Our members include General Practitioners, Specialists, and salaried doctors. We also warmly welcome medical students, offering prizes and free membership.
What makes KDMA unique is its friendly, relaxed vibe—something you don’t often find in professional associations. The sense of community, connection, and support among members is at the heart of what we do.
Who We Are and Where We’re Based
KDMA covers a large area across Sydney—from Gladesville Bridge to Brooklyn Bridge, from Manly-Warringah in the east to Parramatta in the west.
Our members are based in and around this region and are affiliated with many of the area’s major hospitals, including:

In addition to our local members, KDMA is proud to include doctors from regional NSW and interstate, who continue to stay connected through our events and annual conference.
What We Offer
KDMA is a great way for doctors to connect both socially and professionally. We host:
- Bi-monthly dinners with guest speakers at local venues
- An annual golf day
- A popular ‘Looong Weekend’ getaway, blending education, golf, food, and wine
- Our flagship annual scientific conference, held in Australia or overseas and open to doctors nationwide
We’re also committed to promoting health education in the community and keeping our members informed with regular newsletters.
Our Community & Legacy
KDMA is run by a volunteer committee elected each year. We also have a dedicated administrator managing our fully equipped office and day-to-day operations.
Over the years, we’ve hosted many memorable social events that have brought members together—such as Deep Sea Fishing trips, Trivia Nights, Harbour Cruises, Barefoot Bowls, and even a Day at the Races. While these aren’t currently on our calendar, they remain a cherished part of our history and reflect the vibrant spirit of our community.
